Cultural Inclusion Statement
All England Dance and UKYD Cultural Inclusion Policy Statement
At All England Dance, we stand firmly by the principle that “ALL” truly means all people. Our commitment to cultural appreciation, diversity and inclusivity is at the heart of everything we do.
Diversity is being invited to the party. Inclusion is being asked to dance.” (Vernā Myers). Extending this famous quote, we believe that equity is ensuring everyone has appropriate transport to the dance, regardless of their starting location.
We are taking steps to enhance our cultural competency as an organisation to ensure that we are sensitive to the myriad and intersecting ways that individuals my chose to identify and to be acknowledged.
We welcome performers of all backgrounds, abilities, and identities. It is our belief that every individual, should have the opportunity to showcase their talent and passion for dance on our platform. We recognise and respect that it is entirely the performer’s choice whether to disclose any disability to us.
Should performers choose to share information about their disability, we will do our best to provide the necessary support to ensure their participation is as seamless and fulfilling as possible. We understand that this may involve accommodations and adjustments that we would not typically offer to non-disabled performers. Our goal is to create an environment where all participants feel valued, empowered, and able to express themselves fully.
We are committed to breaking down barriers and challenging stereotypes within the dance community. Through ongoing education, training, and collaboration, we strive to foster an inclusive culture where differences are celebrated and embraced.
At All England Dance, and UKYD will continue to champion equality, accessibility, and respect for all.
